Uncle Charlie and Aunt Megan's Visit

We had a blast! Too bad they live on the opposite Coast.

What's wrong with this picture?

We walked to the Brentwood Country Mart for some Frida's (best tacos in the world)...It was a hot day and Eddie got tired.

A Willa Bean Sandwich

Night out at the Viceroy. Willa was home with a babysitter. I only texted her 50 times while we were gone...It went well though and despite the terrible service, we had a lot of fun.

Gorgeous day in Santa Monica...75 and sunny. Perfection.

Happy Easter from the Willa Bean!

Despite Mommy being sick with a cold/flu of some sort, we still had a great Easter.

After going to an awesome service at Uncle Hal's church, we had a fun breakfast at Dinah's Diner.

She loves Uncle Hal :)

THEN a somewhat creepy Easter Bunny came over to our table. I wasn't sure how she was going to react, as many babies are terrified of people dressed up as the Easter Bunny, Santa, Etc...but she thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Then we drove down to Redondo Beach so Willa could give Aunt Patti some Easter love.

1/3 Coton de Tulear, 1/3 Rat Martian (he just got a bad haircut...), 1/3 Easter Bunny

Time with Daddy and Eddie before "night night" time.

She sure loves her bro!

Fever

Poor Willa Bean had a fever all day due to the 3 shots (vaccines) she had to get yesterday. Hopefully she feels better tomorrow.

BIG Baby

Willa had a doctor's appointment today. She is healthy as can be and has grown quite a bit (almost 17 pounds and 26" long). She is in the 87th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height! I guess our little lady isn't so little...

5 Months Old

Yesterday, our little lady turned 5 months old. It has gone fast, but it is hard to remember life without her. It is truly incredible to see how much she changes from month to month.

Things about Willa at 5 months old:

1.) She continues to love life. She loves being awake...so much, that she doesn't like to sleep.
2.) She is very social. She loves having people around, loves meeting new people and can charm the socks off of anyone with her sweet personality.
3.) She is starting to laugh and "talk" more and more.
4.) Even when she is cranky, she will look at you and smile. It is a forced smile, but it is so cute.
5.) She LOVES Eddie more and more. Every time he walks by, she reaches for him and smiles.
6.) She can put her feet in her mouth when she is lying on her back.
7.) She has become really good at picking up toys and focusing on them/playing with them.
8.) We read a book every night, but she is more interested in grabbing the book and putting it in her mouth.
9.) She has become VERY chubby.
10.) During "tummy time", she is starting to push up onto her arms and move her legs a bit.
11.) She can roll from her back to her side.
12.) She just started to sit upright by herself (only for a minute though, then she needs support).
13.) She doesn't like car rides or stroller rides as much as she used to. She gets restless.
14.) She loves to be in the Baby Bjorn (facing outward). She smiles when she sees one of us put it on as she knows she is about to be carried around in it.
15.) She is very curious about everything. She turns her head at any noise and watches everything going on around her.

A Mother's Prayer

My mom emailed me this excerpt from Tina Fey's new book, "Bossy Pants" about being a mother. There is definitely some truth to it, and it cracked me up. Can she please just stay this innocent forever?!

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.

May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.

When the Crystal Meth is offered, May she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half and stick with beer.

Guide her, protect her... when crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.

Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes. And not have to wear high heels. What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it.

May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.

Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen. Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short - a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day - And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.

O Lord, break the Internet forever, that she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers and the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.

And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.

And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back.“My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.

Amen.

Willa and Grandma :)

It was great to have Grandma Koss in town for a couple days! Can you tell how much Willa loves her?

Rice Cereal

After weeks of Nana nagging and insisting that it will help Willa sleep at night (contrary to what pediatricians say), we've decided to start Willa on solids. She ate rice cereal for the first time today and LOVED it! It was so cute... Fingers crossed that she'll actually sleep tonight.

"The Pink Lady" and Willa

A couple of days ago, Willa and I were in William Sonoma and spotted the "The Pink Lady"!

http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/kitten-kay-sera-the-pink-lady.html

She is known in LA for only wearing pink...ALL pink. I have actually spotted her in various parts of town several times throughout the years (She is kind of hard to miss)... Anyway, she noticed that Willa was wearing all pink and insisted on taking a picture with her. Only in L.A.

"The Golden Smile"

She smiles....

and smiles...

and smiles...

and smiles...

and smiles...Pretty much all the time!

We have been blessed with THE world's happiest baby. Willa has been smiling those big, genuine, sparkling, toothless grins since she was 5 weeks old. There is nothing better. It doesn't matter how sleep deprived we are...(and we are VERY sleep deprived)...those smiles just make us melt and put us in the palm of her tiny, chubby hand. She smiles when we get her in her crib in the morning, she smiles at the mere sound of Bryan's voice, she smiles when Eddie walks over to her, she smiles when we put her on her changing table, and she smiles at perfect strangers on the street. I feel so fortunate to have such a joyous little lady...now only if she would start sleeping at night.

A Photo Overview of Willa's First Four Months

Willa was born on November 17, 2010...The most wonderful moment of our lives.

Before we came home from the hospital, Bryan brought Eddie Willa's blanket so he could get used to the smell of his new sister.
